Blue Circle Southern Cement (BCSC), a subsidiary of Boral Limited, is one of the largest cement producers in Australia. Operating since 1951 in Maldon, Wollondilly, BCSC currently employs over 120 staff at Maldon and produces up to 600,000 tonnes of cement per annum for the New South Wales building and construction industries.

Mike Boadle, the Maldon Cement Works Manager of BCSC, explains that operating the business in the Macarthur region "provides excellent access to our markets in the greater Sydney region and beyond, thanks to the freeway, M5 and M7 connections and the southern rail line". The ability to "source raw materials for cement production from Macarthur and the surrounding areas" has also been a draw card directly contributing to the company’s growth and success.

As proof of its significant confidence in the region, BCSC is currently upgrading its Maldon site with a $28 million investment in a state-of-the-art cement bagging plant, which will incorporate the latest robotic technology. BCSCs parent company Boral is also proud of its other investments in the region, including several concrete batching plants and a brickworks at Bringelly, Camden. The Bringelly brick plant employs over 45 people in the production of clay bricks and pavers for use throughout New South Wales.
