Symmetry Sustainable Business

A profile of Symmetry Bronze Graduates

Data on business types and their sizes provide useful insights into characteristics of participants.

Of the 84 businesses which were Bronze accredited, 37 were from Property and Business Services sector, nine from Retail and Wholesale trade, six each from Personal and Other Services, Manufacturing and Construction, five from Transport and Storage, four each from Health and Community Services and Finance and Insurance, two from Accommodation, Cafes and Restaurants and five from Others (not included elsewhere).

Employment data reveal that participants came overwhelmingly from the lower end of the small business sector. Sixty four businesses or 76% employed less than five workers, 18% or 15 firms employed between five to ten workers, and the balance of five or 6% employed over 10 workers.

Participating businesses identified priority areas for improvement in respect of the 10 categories assessed. Safety and Emergency Response Planning, Managing Environmental Impact, Energy Efficiency, Air Quality and Water and Waste Water were identified as high priority areas for improvement. By contrast Business Strategy and Local Community were considered by participants as low priority improvement areas.
